a blog that focuses on Louisiana and Texas. Retail sites, malls, grocery stores, URBEX, and commercial developments are what we visit and share with you. Mexican retailers are included as well.
The sign has been removed and there have been cars parked out in front of the store for a couple of weeks now. I wonder if something new is coming to this site.
There is a new home store located here now. They purchased most of the Circuit City fixtures and added a new sign. The store looks just like Circuit City did but without the electronics. This is apparently a start up furniture store, so it will be interesting to see if it lasts.
Wow. I used to work at the Deerbrook store back when it was the standalone location on Highway 59. I had no idea that it had moved to the mall.
The sudden freefall of Circuit City in the last few years is both shocking and saddening, and even though I haven't worked for them in years (I got out of Dodge right before they decided to kill the appliance department), it's always held a bit of a soft spot in my heart because I worked there during a rough patch in my life and being at work helped me heal. It was also the first job that I had that lasted more than just a summer break; I was there for 5 years combined at both Deerbrook and the store in Norwalk, California. I visited the Norwalk store on the last day this year, and I almost cried as I saw how desolate everything looked.
I'm still having a hard time processing that CC is gone. What's kind of ironic for me is that the domain and website was purchased by the company that I left CC for (and have since left as well).
