Plaza De Las Americas Mall Ciudad Juarez Mexico

Plaza De Las Americas Mall in Ciudad Juarez Mexico.

Here is the first of several malls in Juarez Mexico. This mall is located very close to the US/ Mexico border. This mall has overcome many challenges and is reinventing itself for the future. From what little information that is available online, it seems this mall was struggling very badly up until about 5 years ago. The crime wave that struck the city over a decade ago affected this mall more so than others in the city. If I had to guess, I would say this mall was built in the 1980's.

The mall has a variety of stores and entertainment options. Anchors are an S-Mart grocery and a Cinepolis. The mall also features the only ice skating rink in the city and also features a casino. The mall also features a lot of events to draw people in. The mall is made up almost entirely of local businesses and you can find all kinds of interesting items for sale here.
We start in the ice rink/food court area of the mall.

During a school week, there was nobody on the ice rink. From the photos of the mall Facebook page, it gets very crowded here.

This corridor was blocked off at the exit for some reason.

The food court is not very big, but the mall has other food options all throughout.

The mall corridor had these helicopters and planes all across the ceiling. An interesting touch.

The center court of the mall.

This sign reminds me a little of the Sound Warehouse signs from back in the day.

S Mart is a popular grocery store in this part of Mexico. The interior of the store was new and very colorful. I did not get any photos since it was so busy inside and security was guarding both entrances of the store.

This court is in front of one of the S Mart entrances.

Here is the mall directory.

A cool mural painted on one of the vacant store fronts.

A view of the skylight in front of the Subdelegacion Chihuahua a government services office.

A closed off section of the mall that may have led to a junior anchor at one time.

The second entrance to S Mart in the large court.

A few outdoor photos of the mall. Since my method of transportation during this trip was by walking or taxi, there will not be many outdoor photos of the malls visited.
