Toys R Us Liquidation FM 1960 West Houston
This Toys R Us is located in one of the most successful retail areas of Northwest Houston, so this closing puzzles me. They probably will replace this location nearby, but I was unable to find out any information online.
This location had been there for many years; I went here a few times as a kid back in the 1980's & 90's. It was one of the typical 1980's style locations with the video games pickup window at the front.
They are closing this location because they are going to make FM 1960 go under the railroad tracks. I heard they're supposed to open a new one somewhere near the Willowbrook Mall area to replace this building.
Make FM 1960 GO UNDER the Railroad Tracks? That sounds strange to me!! Could it be.....Make FM 1960 GO OVER the Railroad Tracks???? This makes more sense to me.
They built a new Toys R Us store right further down 1960 at the 249 intersection near the Chuck E Cheese at Willowbrook. It's a larger store in a more noticable location off the freeway.
Did this one replace the one at 43rd and 290? No, it can't be...they're the same "generation".

ReplyDeleteThey used these signs again when the rest of the stores went under in 2018
ReplyDeleteFor sure, they recycle the signage for a lot of the store closings you see around.
