The Fiesta in Katy is one of the newest locations in the Fiesta chain. The supermarket is located off of Mason Rd. in a former K-mart building. With the exception of the sign up front there is no neon like the older stores and the designs are very bland. The inventory here at this location is much different than the inner city locations with a smaller selection of cultural foods available.
This is a perfect example on how these Kmart replacements were terrible across all of Texas. Katy being a thriving area it is and it being replaced by this? Katy could of been better or the smart idea of keeping this Kmart opened. If they would have to have big closings list back in 2000 or 2001, they could have closed many of there older and outdated locations and keep there profitable and newer stores opened.
ReplyDeleteThis store was visible from I-10, there is no reason why Kmart could not have done well at this spot. Texas economy has been doing very well even with the 2001 and 2008 downturns. I have no idea why it made sense to nearly abandon Texas in the Kmart bankruptcy.
