Downtown Lufkin is very small for a population of 35,000 residents and most of the action seems to favor the US 59 retail corridor. Downtown Lufkin has several small businesses though and retains the feel of a classic American downtown. Many of the buildings in the downtown area appear to have been used for retail in the past; I wonder if any of the major department stores that are at Lufkin Mall were ever located there.
This is the tallest building in downtown Lufkin.
This building has several coke murals; it appears to have once been a merchandise store. In the second pic you can see a cinema.
